The Goose & Gridiron
The kitchen managed to screw up my steak salad. Then, when they finally got it right, my meal was left to die in the window while my companions enjoyed meals that had far many more components than a steak salad. Had to wait a good ten minutes for the server to notice that I didn't have my meal. Why it took her that long is beyond me - there were literally only two occupied tables in the whole place. Think I know why. Indifferent service and mediocre food. The salad was okay, because it's pretty tough to screw up raw veggies, but the miserable little scrap of steak was gristly. Not impressed with the staff either in front or back of house.

Happy to share my experience here.We arrived at 2:30pm and we were told that if we wanted to be in the patio, we would need to wait 1 hour or more. We were a group of ten, but suddenly, a few minutes later 3 tables in the patio were unoccupied. The easy thing to do was to join 2 tables and accomodate our family. However, that didn't happen becauase the waiters were not allowed" to join tables. The 2 waiters talked rudely. Everything was going bad

Not a bad place for lunch. No real wow factor. The burger was well cooked but you could tell that the bun was a bit old as it was crumbly. Perhaps slightly toasting the bun might have helped as it was cold. The fries were well cooked but had multiple shapes, thin and thick. Nevertheless the fries were nicely cooked. We also had the fish and chips being it was Friday. Again the fish was slightly overcooked and a little flavorless. The batter seemed to have some East Indian notes could there have been some cumin in it? A little salt and pepper might have helped here. The coleslaw was slightly off colour as if malt vinegar was used and its taste was of celery seed or celery salt.The service was attentive and polite.So overall it was a goodish lunch in a nice location.

We had lunch here the other day after a walk around town. The patio set up is beautiful, a new fav patio to go to. Food and drinks were great, the service was so quick even with the busy rush the server was so responsive and we quickly got our drinks and food. This will absolutely be a regular spot this summer

We went into the pub as a break from the rain with the intention of grabbing a drink, but the food was so tantalizing... we could not resist enjoying the fare. I had a spicy margarita, which was thirst slaying and then shared a fantastic plate of cheese covered nachos!! The portions were huge, the service was excellent plus the authentic pub atmosphere made this a must visit again experience in Merrickville which is a 40 minute from ottawa drive down the 416, to eat, shop and relax!!

We opted for a table outside on a small patio and asked for a table in the back which was refused. We were seated near the entrance behind the fence. However, the people who came right after us were seated at the table we preferred (they had no reservation).It took pretty long to serve our meals which I guess is not unusual on a busy Sunday during lunch time. The food was presented OK but did not taste special (all 4 of us had the same experience). Especially the French fries were way overbaked. Service was friendly. Next time we'll try a different restaurant...
