Hanway Music School in Markham

My son goes to the school here and the experience has been wonderful. At first we basically wanted him to develop an extra hobby outside of school and didn't give too much thought about how he would pursue his piano learning. Kelvin was his teacher and my son was able to enjoy every lesson he attends. Overall, great school if you are willing to give your child a chance to try out music

I’m an current student at Hanway Music and I’ve purposefully decided to give my review after 8 weeks of classes.As an adult who never tried to play piano before, I didn’t know whether I was too late to start. After consulting over the phone with the school I booked a half hour trial lesson with Miss Lin. Needless to say she was very patient and reassured me it’s not too late! I’m going into week 9 and finally getting a good grasp at note reading as well as playing some simple pieces! Would definitely recommend this school if you are a interested in starting piano!

My son been taking lesson there for over a year. The teacher there is so patient and friendly. He knows how to talk and communicate with little kids while pushing them to go forward at the same time. Would definitely give them 100% of my referral.

Each lesson the teacher lets me know how he is doing and what he should be working on each week. The prices are fair with the other schools in the area. They only charge by lesson time and not by the level of the students.Cons: Very busy on the weekends so it is hard to reserve a lesson time of your choice. But they do try their best to offer you the time that you want

A friend who’s child attends this school has recommended us to Hanway. The owner personally took the call and was able to answer all of our questions in a very professional way. Shortly after the call we received a confirmation text message with the time and location that we agreed upon. When we went for the first lesson, the teacher was already prepared in the classroom. The teacher was experienced and always asking my daughter how she felt with the difficulty as she progressed. In the end she also did a musical game where my 5 year old fairly enjoyed. Overall was a pleasant experience and we’re glad our daughter has found a piano teacher that suits her. Would recommend Hanway for anyone who is interested in learning the piano!

Booking a reservation was simple. The school offers a first time lesson where we only had to pay for one class to try with a teacher. My daughter and son both are beginners to piano and the manager on the phone assigned us two teachers who were experience working with beginners. Both of my kids enjoyed their lessons and hopefully they can keep it up!One thing to note is that the receptionist has only basic English communication skills, but the manager seems to be fluent in English. So my advice is to speak to the manager for any scheduling changes.

Since enrolling my two son's as a student at Hanway Music for over two years, I must say that I've been pleased with the outcomes. He's thoroughly enjoyed every piano session taken, and their music theory classes have taught me a lot. Their instructor is sympathetic and motivating. Carina’s lessons are quite thorough, and she clearly puts a lot of emotion into his singing. I'd also like to say that Barbara's classes are insightful and interesting.I can say that this is an excellent school for anyone who needs to locate a competent music teacher! Also thanks to the staff Hanway Music for every time we had to do a makeup lesson, they try their best to accommodate our schedule! Will definitely recommend this school!

Having just moved to Toronto from Boston back in September, we thought about enrolling our daughter into piano lessons here in Canada. Unfortunately Covid appeared and she had to take a pause on the lessons for nearly 1 year.We were referred to Hanway by a co-worker as her child also studies here. We inquired about the lesson over the phone and the receptionist answered all of our questions with professionalism and we set up a trial lesson with Ms. Katharine.The studio is well sanitized and we saw the teacher sanitizing the piano before my daughter’s lesson. Shes very experienced and confident in her knowledge of the instrument.I would definitely recommend Hanway Studio to fellow friends and to those who see’s this review
