I've had to visit the SJRH Oncology Department 5 days a week for the past few months. Fortunately the Oncology department is much better run than the rest of the hospital. The oncology staff (for the most part) are very friendly & accommodating .I believe as a contributing member of society/a tax payer. I have a right to see & question anything that is placed in my file. I believe my healthcare providers should be obligated to provide complete transparency when it comes to anything that is in my healthcare file. The notion that my healthcare file is something that I have to make a formal request to view is simply preposterous! If there was complete transparency & better communication between departments/ patients & healthcare providers. Along with better (independent) patient advocates & a reminder to all staff that they are civil servants whose soul purposes is to provide the best care possible to patients & families inorder to insure a healthy community. Providing a environment where patients (& loved one's)are not fearful or skeptical of our Healthcare System.... As of to date the general public have a great fear of requiring the need for healthcare in SJRH. Complete transparency / better communication and accountability would do wonders with easing the mindset of the public who fund the operation of this hospital. The management of Region 2 Hospital Corporation as a whole needs to be stripped to the bones and revamped. The monies wasted on duplicate services/ staff with a sense of entitlement. Treating patients like the staff are doing patients a favor by providing treatments/Wait times/ lack of reasonable parking for those who have mobility issues/ poor patient care/ No 24hr availability to get food service other than a limited Tim Hortons menu of coffee, donuts or muffins and chips or soda/fruit juices is simply ludicrous for a 24/7 publicly funded hospital. This particular hospital (The Saint John Regional) is hands down the dirtiest hospital we have ever visited. Prior to my illness we visited a friend who was in the cardiac ICU. When entering the hospital we couldn't help but notice how filthy the glass & push bars on the doors to the entrance was. Once inside It was evident the interior of the hospital was equally as dirty as the doors to enter. Upon entering our friends room we were shocked at the state his bed was in. He relayed to us that his bedding hadn't been changed in the 4 days he had been in the bed post a complicated open heart surgery. Our friend was diabetic and prone to infection (which he ended up with a life threatening post surgical staph infection)..... This is just 1 example out of thousands....We all have heard or experienced stories like this.... Which makes us even more fearful of seeking treatments at the SJRH. This being said; there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between the cleanliness & care at the SJRH & the older hospital Saint Joseph's" located uptown Saint John. The Staff at the Saint Josephs hospital seem to take more pride in their work. Or maybe the hiring practices are different. I'm not sure. All I know is

Was there because i had a heart attack. The nurses were great the doctors also. When a doctor is to preform a sugery they should. An emergency comes in another dkctor should take it not the one who has already booked a patient for heart surgery. That was very silly one patient her name was Ann was bumped twice and not knowing when the sugery was going to happen. Thiswas very sorry but yes dumb. My heart went out to this woman. Just not right

Hate waiting in line to get in.You have to go in by emergency dept then register up front.Appointment is supposed to be early and you get in clinic and every chair is already taken.Book too many people for same time.I know Drs are busy but so are we
