Dr. Mahy is incredible! I had an appendicitis in May which led to a trip to the emergency room. After the CT scan confirmed the diagnosis, Dr. Mahy came to discuss surgery plans and details. He was super calm and understanding. He said I had to wait up to 10 hours for the surgery, but he managed to find time for the surgery within 2 hours. I can understand some of the negative reviews: he is incredibly busy and can appear aloof. I cannot really blame him because he operated on multiple surgeries the day I was admitted to the ER. Currently, it’s been two months since I had the surgery and I have fully recovered. I am super thankful that the surgery went well and it was done promptly.

My son almost died in his hands, or more like outside his hands! Left for his holiday and discharged my son too soon. He developed complications so severe he had to be hospitalized again. Other doctors had to intervene, and they did well! For your peace of mind and well-being, please avoid this Dr at the Burnaby Hospital.

He is great dr. I was so nervous for my first surgery for goldbleder remove . He came before surgery and told me don't worry will take good care for you. Its lot to say about his personality. How good he is as human been.god blesse him. Its been 5 days since my surgery and im filling lot better thanks to his awesome team.

I had endoscopy appointment for today for which I waited about 4 months. I was at Burnaby hospital at 1 pm to do the Admin tasks . my appointment was at 2 pm. At 2:10 I went in and asked about my scope and the nurse told me that doctor has cancelled my appointment and I have to reschedule. I insisted that I cannot wait anymore because I noticed bleeding recently but they did not care and they called security to push me out.Doctor never contacted me to reschedule or to ask about my health. It was the most terrible experience I had.I felt totally offended and disrespected at hospital. I did not eat from the night before to be ready for the endoscopy and when I asked guard if I can get something to eat they said that I should leave the hospital area even outdoor area. I have been very respectful to all of them but they were so scared because I asked for a written cancellation notice. They refused to provide the cancellation notice and asked me to leave. I needed the notice for my employer since I got half day off. It was a trauma

Dr. Mahy was very kind with our family, and often checked in with us both pre- and post-operation. He is also very responsible and calmed our anxieties about the surgery. He is very caring, patient, and professional, we greatly appreciate all he's done for us.

He will play with your life. I've been having blood in my stool and he blows it off as hemorrhoids. He also tells me I'm too young to have a serious disease. I told him about my family history of colon cancer and smoking habits. He doesn't care. When you get a referral from your family doctor, ask to specifically avoid him.

Dr mahy was great always in a good mood with me contrary to what people have said on here and my surgery went very well I. Recovering very well I would trust him to have further procedures if ever needed he definitely knows his stuff

On Aug 11, 2016 I had Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal (Cholecystectomy) my first ever surgery. I am very please with Dr Mahy and his team at Burnaby General. I have had no issues , pain or soreness. I would recommend Dr Mahy he has great bedside manners and really cares about the patient. He had my insurance forms filled out the day of my surgery.Thanks Dr Mahy and the rest of the team @ Burnaby General who performed my surgery.

Worst Ever! I went to see this doctor 5 months ago. At the end of my appointment Dr.Mahy said he needed to give me a rectal exam. I inquired why if I am having a colonoscopy soon. He said in case he sees anything unusual. I reluctantly agreed and assumed the position, his finger did a 1/2 second swipe. I don’t know what he could have possibly seen with such an exam and felt he did it to humiliate me. I didn didn’t say anything about it because I just wanted to get the colonoscopy done but my gut said Red flag! Five months later, his assistant called with an appointment. I expressed that I would rather have an early morning appointment since I was fasting for so long and because I have type ll diabetes, it’s not good for me to fast for that long. She said keep to keep my original appointment and she would see if she could get an earlier appointment, I never heard back so I went to the drugstore to purchase the laxative and they asked me what kind. I told the pharmacist that I wasn’t given any instruction and they helped me get the appropriate meds. I went home took two days off work took the laxative was waiting for my Uber to go to my appointment and the assistant calls me. She tells me she has a new appointment for me, I tell her that my original appointment was never cancelled due to her instructions and I am leaving for the hospital in 20 minutes. I am furious. I am out almost $700 in lost wages, and a laxative that I did not need to go through with taking and they are doing nothing about helping me. I have never dealt with anyone business so unprofessional in my entire life. They refuse to take accountability for their mistakes. This doctors business is inept and they should have their license taken away!
