Delicious but stingyWe got takeout. Our first reaction on opening the containers was that the portions were comically small. The quality of the food quickly won us over, it was very tasty, but having ordered 6 dishes for 7 light eaters we weren't expecting to be making jokes about ordering pizza as a second course.

Sep Lai was a great deal of fun for a group, in a nice, cozy and intimate space. It was our first time trying Laotian food so we took the tasting menu. The kitchen did everything to accommodate dietary restrictions and overall did so almost seamlessly (some dishes were delayed but this was understandable).Pros: the main dishes were very good, well spiced and the quantities were fair for the price. The service was warm and helpful.Cons: service was slow at first, but it was busy to be fair. The appetizers were not quite up to the standard of the main dishes in terms of taste and quantity.I definitely recommend to try to unique restaurant!

We used to have a love-hate relationship with this place back when it was called Machiavelli, when it was good, it really was good, but the next time it could be underwhelming. But I've never had Laotian food so we decided to check it out, and was not disappointed at all.Decor didn't change much, the terrasse in the back is lovely, full of lush greenery, and inside it has a neighborhood bistro feel.We ordered a bunch of plates, and everything was delicious. The meatballs were tasty with lots of lemongrass. The crispy rice with ham was simple but effective, the fried tofu with tamarind sauce was silky, the fried squid was crispy and the sauce delicious.Service was great, very friendly and laid back, perfect for us, we weren't in a hurry.Prices and portions were good, count on about 2-3 plates per person. And it's bring your own wine!

Super cute spot near Griffintown! Didn’t know Montreal had such a cute Laotian spot, my friends decided to bring us here while we were visiting Montreal. Their backyard Terrasse is super nice! We got the red curry soup and winter melon soup and they were both so yummy! The winter melon soup is simple, with tiny pieces of winter melon in chicken broth, such a classic homemade soup but I was craving it so I decided to get a small entrée size. The red curry one tasted very strongly of coconut milk but was also really delicious and had a bit of noodles! The meatballs were so yummy, that was everyone’s fav. I was a lil disappointed with the papaya salad, was a lil tart for my liking and I wished it was a bit more sour. The Laap was alright too and the fried tofu was very flavourful. We also got the crispy rice wraps and those were so yummy, I loved the texture of the rice. Overall, a pleasant dinner experience. I’d recommend making reservations as it can get busy! It’s also BYOB so they only had mock tails! I really wanted to try their pandan crème brûlée as I am a very big fan of pandan but we were too full and would be going out for dessert right after. Next time!

My first Laotian restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. Located literally outside Charlevoix metro so getting there is very convenient. With a very accommodating and caring staff, the menu is a fusion of so many items and the food is beyond delicious. Everything was perfect including the drinks such as lemonade and ginger ale. The creme brulée is the best dessert at the very end. A staff that is super kind and go above and beyond to make you comfortable. I can't wait to try other items on the menu and come back with friends :) A 10/10 recommendation.

I'd highly recommend you to sit at the terasse and share dishes. The meatballs and the filet mignon skewers were absolutely delicious. Deserts too are definitely worth it. I will go again and try the rest of the menu!

This place took us completely by surprise. It was so good and so unexpected. We never tried cuisine from Laos but this place made us love it. Great discovery. Food is amazing, very similar to vietnamese cuisine with a small difference. Staffs are super friendly and we had some great recommendations. We will definitely come back.

My family of 2 young children and 2 adults enjoyed a flavourful Laotian brunch here this early afternoon. The ambience was relaxing, seating was comfy and we liked that there's lots of plants. Our waiter was friendly and very present to answer any of our questions on the menu and to offer coffee refills. My husband had the Special Kay Dao which featured a perfectly cooked steak and fried egg and sweet potato fries. I had a very yummy omelette accompanied with sticky rice and fresh mixed green salad. The kids especially liked the Patongko like a light donut that was accompanied by sweetened condensed milk.
