First General Hamilton

Dustin Goulet and his Roofing Team have just finished stripping and re-shingling my home in Dundas, ON. What a great job they did!!He and his team were friendly, fast efficient and left my property as they found it; I couldn't be happier!!I recommend First General to anyone getting a roof done. I would not use this company just for the way in which they operate their vehicles. I just witnessed one of their drivers going way over the limit and weaving in and out of traffic during rush hour. Getting no further ahead I might add. DO BETTER

We had some work recently done by First General after having some fire damage in our kitchen. Everyone from the moment they came to assess the damage until the work was completed were unbelievable. We had an addition put on another home we owned previously and had a terrible experience with all of the individuals we dealt with. I would recommend First General to anyone who needed any kind of work done to their homes. Five stars all the way!

Was given this contractor through an Insurance claim (water damaged basement).They quoted the job very very low, to the point where you would have a concern anything could be completed at that price.As a result, we had to use them as no option in market could do that price.Eventually they never began the work on the intended start month, I was basically not spoken with at all to review job scope, etc.When I inquired as to why it didn't start, they finally sent a flooring contractor to review flooring options with me.I didn't like any of the flooring options and based on that they told the insurance company I'm too difficult to work with and declined the job.Seems like they have some sort of coordinated scam going with the insurance company, or not wanting sub par flooring is so offensive it constitutes the end of a business relationship.

Insurance job ~ took these folks SEVEN MONTHS to install a shower. Loads of issues with the contractors they used that we had to fix ourselves at our own expense and time. They have clearly stretched themselves too thin. They charged our insurance company for services and materials that were not provided. Their representative was excellent, but was not given the adequate resources to do the job right and in a timely manner. Would have taken the payout if we knew this would happen.

Unfortunately we had a flood and our insurance company (intact who was great) sent first general to do the clean up.. The first lead worker was awesome wish I could Remeber his name but from there different guys everyday and downhill fast... Failed to empty the closet or remove the drywall, discarded a full freezer and listed the amount of items but not the actual items (was it all frozen dinners or steak and crab) had to fight with the insurance over the items. That's the same freezer they told me to plug back in before it was inspected and turns out I would have burnt the house down had I of listened the wiring was soaked. They damaged hall way tiles upstairs, left electrical plugs live with no covers, showed up at all times of the day.. Had an electronics inspector show up while they were still cleaning up and stated if anything was missed I could call home directly. Of course a few items were missed I called him, he came back and was later reprimanded through the insurance from these guys for doing so..The best is their quote to put it back together was dirt cheap and after receiving quotes from reputable contractors it was pointed out that their quote showed no permit request to the city for electrical work... Wires were cut, pot lights directly under the broken water line so a licensed electrical company had to be used and a permit pulled.. That electrical company also informed of the safety violations of leaving live plugs uncovered and the ease of someone getting seriously hurt..Shoddy company with no skill trades or actual building code knowledgeable workers.. Stay away or Atleast strictly monitor them if your insurance company sends them.

The small piece of wood under the door latch was installed by me to keep the door closed. I'll let you make your own decision on the level of workmanship.As a follow up. Shortly after this posting I was contacted by First General to come out and correct the initial work done. As displeased as I was with the first job, the correction of the problem was outstanding. They really went out of their way to correct the poor workmanship. In the end the job was resolved to our satisfaction. Too bad the issue had to go that route.

Currently dealing with First General and they've been amazing. My roof was leaking and caused my ceiling to start to cave in. They came quickly to test for asbestos so they could continue with repair, but the ceiling collapsed as they worked. They cleaned well and tarped it. More collapsed the next day so they came back as soon as I called to fix it. Greg has put up with lots of my calls and is dealing with Insurance for me, taking a huge stress load of my shoulders. The job isn't done yet but so far they have been really good. All the staff have been courteous and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves.

Dave and his team did an amazing job replacing our water damaged basement ceiling. He and his team were incredibly efficient, clean and detail-oriented. Not only did the new ceiling look fantastic, but Dave and his team went the extra mile to ensure we were satisfied. As new homeowners, water-damage is incredibly stressful, but Dave and his team completely put our minds at ease.I highly recommend First General for any property restoration work.

Greg and the team at First General fixed our basement after a sewage backup. They were quick to come and cleanup. Everyone we dealt with was very professional and worked around our busy schedules. Can’t thank them enough for getting everything done in a timely manner and answering all our questions! Great work!
