I would like to express my sincerest thanks for the kindness, grace and professionalism shown to me by Sara Nyberg from Highland Funeral Home Scarborough Chapel. Sara and her team showed respect and professionalism from the beginning to end, giving me peace of mind and closure. Thank you, Sara, for making the process smooth and manageable. I appreciate your efficiency and organization of all the details. I received many compliments on the Celebration of Life for my Mom on behalf of the funeral home from both family and friends. My sincerest thanks.

I never thought that I would write a review about a funeral home, but this must be done, since the service provided by our funeral director Sara was great. Sara was patient, kind, caring and showed remarkable professionalism and went above and beyond for my family. Thank you Sara. You made this experience a positive one.We had preplanned and prepaid our funeral and burial with another great lady Monica, and if you ever thought of doing it I highly recommend it as it makes the most difficult times all that much easier.Both of these ladies did a great job guiding us through the process and especially after the funeral with all the paperwork, with their kind, caring and professional nature. When you’re going through the difficult time and there is great people to guide you and advise you the least we can do is acknowledge them.Thank you ladies.

My family and I were very thankful for the kind, professional services. Death is never easy to deal with but highland funeral home did an excellent job. The place is clean, staff are friendly and welcoming and made the experience smooth for us. We are grateful for your services.

Our experience with Highland was very good. We dealt mostly with Sara who put everything together very professionally for us. She made herself available via email on her days off bd hand delivered flowers to my father’s home herself.At the moment, I don’t remember the gentleman in charge of the viewing and day of the funeral…I believe he was Italian (?). He too was very professional and accommodating to our needs.Our limo driver, Dave was excellent. He kept my father engaged in conversation but asked his permission first if it was okay to speak…which I thought was very compassionate and respectful.The after care service with looking over government forms was much appreciated and again the gentleman was knowledgeable and professional.The reason I am giving a four instead of a five is because the slide show during the viewing kept showing the same photos over and over. They did try to fix it for us but it wasn’t overly successful. Having said that, Sara did make an exception for us by allowing four picture boards.The other reason I am giving a four is because the volume for our virtual funeral was not up to standards. We had people from Europe and the United States who watched intently but could not hear those of us who spoke during the mass. My suggestion therefore, would be for this to be checked ahead of time between the funeral home and the parish.I would like to compliment the organist and the singer from Epiphany of Our Lord. I was extremely pleased with their talent.Overall, given the circumstances I would recommend Highland should you have to experience the sudden death of a loved one.Professional. Knowledgeable. Compassionate.

My family and I were so pleased and thankful for the wonderful service and empathy we were shown by the staff at Highland. From the very beginning and first phone call the staff were calm and provide us with all the information we needed. Sara, our director was amazing, so responsive in helping arrange everything and she was warm, friendly and professional. She truly went above and beyond and ensured that the whole experience was exactly what our family wanted to celebrate my father-in-law. The reception team Dayle and Lynn were warm, supportive and helpful. They allowed us to have the relaxed and casual reception we hoped for and gave us time to spend with our friends and family while we grieved. We cannot thank them enough for everything they have done and we are truly grateful.

I can't thank you all enough for helping us through such a difficult time in our lives. Ricardo and Pat were absolutely amazing. They made everything go so smoothly and were so patient with us. You guys are incredible! They were sympathetic and even had us smiling at times with their wonderful personalities. Thank you, thank you!

For many years we had attended and trusted highland funeral home Scarborough location. But this last experience was just unbelievable.As difficult times can be when a loved one pass, it’s never easy and that’s why usually you would trust people at the funeral home to help organize and guide you through this difficult process.The person I had arranged my Aunts funeral was Sara. Sara had helped myself, sister, cousins and niece in organizing what package would be best to organize this unfortunate event.We had a great viewing Sunday May 22nd 2023 until it came to organizing my aunts cremation and settling her final resting place. It was Victoria day long weekend, my aunts final service was held on Monday morning at 11-1pm May 22, 2023. We were told that cremation would happen Tuesday or Wednesday. I was suppose to expect a call from Sara. When Thursday came I found it weird no update, no message, text, no voicemail, nor missed call or call at all. I decided to call myself and a gentleman picked up. I inquired about my aunts ashes and if Sara was there. He stated Sara was off the next 2 days and that she would call me on Monday for her to settle the movement from the funeral home to the cemetery. He then stated that the ashes had arrived back at the funeral home on Wednesday. I was upset. I couldn’t understand how a funeral home can’t pass on information or have someone else manage and communicate when someone had decided to take time off or vacation.I waited on Monday nothing. I called Tuesday, I was told Sara was gone again for another two days. Now this is ridiculous. At this point my aunt has been passed for over two weeks now. The lady who had helped me told me she would handle it. To only find out that the funeral home told the cemetery that I was upset at the cemetery when it was the failed communication with the funeral home in arranging the movement to the cemetery was the issue and not them.Today is Thursday two days after my call and Sara finally called me. What I can’t seem to understand is she tired to tell me that she had tired to reach me. Who wouldn’t pick up a call on someone’s loved one had passed and wanting to lay them to rest. Why lie?! And just apologize?! Why try to reason when it was failed on Sara and Highland’s funeral home in not being able to professionally communicate and organize my aunt to lay to rest.It’s upsetting that I have to write this review but I hope not only will management see this but correct the action or correct the procedures on how they handle movement from funeral home to the cemetery.I and my family will finally lay my aunt to rest this coming Saturday after having to call and organize it myself.

We recently had my Mom's service at Highland Funeral Home and I can't say enough about the wonderful staff. From the first call to Sara we felt that we were in very helpful & empathetic hands. Every single person who provided care was exceptional; the two gentlemen who came to get my Mom at the nursing home; Sara, our funeral director, who helped us with every detail; Miranda who ran the service for us; all the servers at the reception; and, Monica for her excellent aftercare. Thanks to all of you. We highly recommend Highland Funeral Home.

We recently had my grandmothers funeral and visitation services at Highland Funeral Home in Scarborough. All of the staff were so kind and helpful throughout the entire process. They helped make a really difficult and sad time for our family as easy and pleasant as possible. Special thanks to Richard who helped guide my father in planning the arrangements for the services, Chris and Anna did a beautiful job with a slide show for us and Dayle was incredible helping in our reception room with the food and drinks.
