Strathcona Child Development Centre

SCDC is an exceptional child care facility that truly goes above and beyond. They provide a home-like environment where children are allowed to explore and learn at their own pace, and the staff are always attentive to their needs. The programing and activities are fun and educational, and the staff are warm and caring. We've been impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and the excellent, healthy meals provided. We highly recommend SCDC to any family.

I feel so lucky to be part of the staff for Strathcona Child Development Centre Olive Tree Division. We have a wonderful team of educators, as well as our administrative team. If my children were at an age to require daycare services, I would not hesitate to send them to Olive Tree.As well, the ownership is one of the most caring that I have ever worked for. Danielle makes sure to acknowledge our successes and provides us with opportunities for professional development. My son attended this facility from 18 months to 3.5 years old. I can’t say enough about the educators and the facility. The management, leadership, and communication is the reason for my 1 star review. Without any meetings, communications, or fair warning we were asked to find alternate care. Was my 3yo boy acting perfect; no. Do I expect a daycare to work with parents to fix issues; yes. Not only we’re we told to find alternate care immediately (which is impossible if you want a decent daycare in Sherwood Park) but the owner also insinuated violence in our home and that I have my son assessed by a doctor. I consider this to be a huge overstep of her boundaries; especially since the decision had already been made to terminate our registration instead of to help us find a solution or a root to the problems that were occurring.I would highly recommend finding a daycare that will work with you instead of against you when or if your child begins to have challenges.

Strathcona Child Development Centre is an amazing facility. The staff genuinely care for the children and the family unit as a whole. Communication with parents is very open and the programming that the teachers do each week prioritizes the growth and learning of each child. It is evident that Danielle cares deeply for all the children at her daycare and ensures that all staff, and the environment created, help each unique child to blossom in their own way. I would 100% recommend SCDC to anyone looking for top notch childcare!

Strathcona Development Centre is by far one of the most high quality child care. The staff their is driven and ambitious to provide the most current and update philosophies to guide and support children. Management attend frequent courses to apply to the daycare. The owner, Danielle, role models Walt Disney in terms of If you look after your staff everything will look after itself" Top Notch quality care."

As first time parents, going into a daycare was some what stressful, SCDC made the transition so much easier and they were so reassuring and just overall amazing. This daycare has been absolutely amazing for our family. They staff are wonderful, the food they provide is fantastic. Our son has learned so much being here and absolutely loves going to daycare everyday now. We could not be happier with our choice to use this daycare.

Amazing daycare. They really care about the kids and want to make sure they are happy, healthy and well taken care of. They do great things with the kids over the summer and I was completely blown away by all the amazing things that my daughter got to experience.The only reason why I don't give 5 stars is :1. I like to have consistent staff so I can build a relationship with them and feel comfortable in expressing concerns or asking questions. This daycare likes to move their staff to accommodate needs in other rooms, and sometimes they don't comeback to the room. Which I understand, but is stressful for me.2.Though I take ownership that this was partially my fault. I had to take out my daughter twice from daycare due to being unable to either pay for daycare or having my significant other let go from their job. This daycare requires 1 month notice to have your child taken out. I did not know this was their policy and both times I have given only a few days notice. I now cannot return to this daycare. However if I was informed that I needed 1 month before taking out my child I would have tried to make it work.Thank you for the wonderful times.

Sending our son to daycare was strongly recommended to us by our pediatrician to help socialize him due to covid but also because he was a highly sensitive child with additional needs. We conceded although we were concerned to do so being first time parents yet especially because we worried that our child wouldn't get the care he needed. Strathcona Child Development Centre has done everything in their power to support us including securing additional care, dietary assistance, attending any meeting requests...the list goes on and on. From the amazing attention of the teachers to our director Manuela always offering us any advice she can to help our son we couldn't be more grateful for all the care, guidance and support this centre and staff has offered us. The centre itself is beautiful with tons of natural light and plants which creates a wonderful environment for children to grow and learn. We would absolutely recommend this centre to anyone who is looking for a second family for their children to flourish in and with.

Being a first time mom I was so nervous about finding childcare. 6 months later we couldn't be happier with our choice at SCDC. The facility is beautiful. The teachers have been so kind and caring. Delicious and nutritious meals are provided. The programming is excellent, my daughter has so much fun, learns so much and most importantly she loves it there. Thank you Danielle and team :)

I have been an employee at SCDC for about a year now. And I could not be more thankful for the amazing leadership and management staff. I am able to express my thoughts and feelings openly.I also love the centre that we have been provided to help nurture and develop children. It truly is the best.
