Friendly K9 Dog Training Academy.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I spent a considerable amount of time researching private trainers and training facilities to help build the early foundations for my puppy, who will eventually train for service. When I found this site, read the reviews and did a little more digging online choosing Friendly K9 was a no brainer.Friendly K9 staff worked closely with me for months before my 7 month old American Bulldog/Boxer mix puppy joined their Board and Train program. All of the staff were knowledgeable, compassionate and eager to assist me while I raised the money for her training.Any communication, questions and concerns were immediately addressed. Any animal lover knows...its not an easy thing to trust strangers to take, train and care for your best friend in their home. However their professionalism, immense knowledge and visible love of what they do made handing over my best friend for 2 1/2 weeks seamless. I appreciate that you are given honest feedback on what you've been doing right but more so wrong! You cannot progress with your furry friend by encouraging behaviour's that cause and increase negative behaviour, but more so being firm in what you need to do change it!During the handover I was given an abundance of information on Ophelia's current progress, nutrition and exactly what work I need to consistently do with her. Exceptional patience was shown with my endless questions.I have no regrets in choosing this program for Ophelia. I was anxious bringing her home as I moved while she was away and didn't know how she would adjust after everything she had just experienced. I was given great advice on how to set it up to carry on what she has learned. Some habits are hard to break, but after being shown the bigger picture it all makes sense.Ophelia has already shown changes in less than 24hrs of arriving to our new home. I look forward to working with Friendly K9 as Ophelia progresses and transitions into Service Training!

We are so pleased with the results Friendly K9 was able to achieve. Our pug is such a sweet girl , but was very reactive outside our home. This prevented us from being able to having her groomed. In just 3 weeks, Sal and Jordan were able to help her overcome her fears. We are very pleased with the results and because of Friendly K9, our Bean is now a favorite at our local groomers. From the first phone call, to the drop off and pick up. Sal and the entire team have been very communicative, supportive and just fantastic the entire way through.When we first dropped Eleven off, we did have some concerns as anyone would especially with her high energy levels and rambunctious ways. However, when we arrived to pick her up after 3 weeks we couldn’t believe how great, calm, and well behaved she was. She is definitely going in the right direction and of course as pet owners we have to continue enforcing those commands and working with her daily. We would definitely recommend their services to anyone looking to get training for their dog. Thank you all so much!!

We sent our Dalmatian bandit to the 3 week board and train program and I must say, Jordan and sal did an absolutely amazing job! I’ve read reviews for countless places to help us and our dog and the reviews for this place were by far the best. Going into the program I was very hopeful! But once we picked our dog up they exceeded our expectations! They took very good care of him, the weekly updates were awesome. They truly know what they are doing and know how to work with every single dog even our very stubborn Dalmatian ! I cannot thank the both of them enough for what the did. They provided our dog and us with confidence and a good structure for the future. I highly recommend them ! Will definitely take bandit there if we ever need boarding or training of any sorts in the future.Here’s our bandit for show ☺️

Our 1.5-year-old French bulldog was with Sal, Jordan, and the rest of the team's care for 5 weeks as part of the anxiety and dog aggression program. Since we got her back, she has changed entirely! She no longer pulls on a her leash, or shows aggression towards other dogs. She is much more calm and isn’t showing any anxious behaviours at home. We have received a lot of help and support as we learn the rules to continue improving her skills.In the future we want to send our stubborn beagle!Thank you so much FriendlyK9!!

We sent our Portuguese Water Dog Archie to Sal and Jordan because he was constantly anxious in public and difficult to manage around strangers. The results have been impressive. After a 3 week board and train for anxiety, Archie has calmed down in situations that used to cause him to panic and is now well behaved, obeying commands from all members of our family including our kids. We would never have thought it possible for our 7 year old to walk our dog before going to Friendly K9.

If I can rate more than 5 stars to this business, I would. From the very start, when I was just exploring the idea of service training my dog, Sal has given generous insights and advise that are very helpful. When it was time to drop my dog off for boarding, Sal honestly told me that because of my dog's size (9 lbs) and her severe separation anxiety, he doesn't think boarding her would be a good idea and that he didn't want to risk my dog's health and safety. He generously offered me options to accommodate us as ours was a special case, but in the end, my family and I decided to just not push through with the program and Sal graciously offered a refund. Sal and Richard were always very polite, responsive, understanding and very kind, and I am forever going to be thankful for Sal's expertise and his genuine concern for my dog. I hope more businesses will be as honest, and practice as much integrity and professionalism as Friendly K9. I am going to be recommending them to everyone who needs training for their dogs.Thank you so much, Sal and Richard. ♡

Amazed at the results! I highly recommend for pet parents looking to start their puppy’s training on the right foot. I sent my 6-month old Goldendoodle for puppy training with Sal and Jordan and was amazed at the change in Rosie when I got her back. Before working with Friendly K9, Rosie had trouble focusing and was very reactive on walks—to the point where I was afraid she was going to start knocking people down the stronger she got. She wasn’t able to process my voice/commands when she was over-excited and eager to get to a person/bird/other dog. After the training, while still maintaining her puppy curiosity, Rosie is focusing on me, her threshold manners are mind-blowing, and our walks now are a true pleasure! She no longer jumps up on people and listens to me when I call to her. Sal and Jordan not only gave Rosie a solid foundation of learning, but they guided me as well in how to establish better boundaries so Rosie and I can have a wonderful life. Thank you Friendly K9 for all you do!

10 stars if I could give it!I cannot recommend Friendly K9 Dog Training Academy enough.Sal, Jordan, Sam, Richard and the entire team are absolutely amazing! From the moment I submitted my “contact us” form to the moment I picked up my Husky, I have nothing but great things to say.Bella, my 1 year old huksy, like all other huskies, is very stubborn and I couldn’t train her despite endless YouTube videos watched and lots of hours spent trying to train her with treats, patience, repetition and all that. At some point, I hired a trainer who came to my condo and told me to rehome Bella because she wasn’t “trainable”. That really upset me and made me think I made a bad decision on getting my dog and that I would never have a well behaved dog, and I’d be frustrated for the rest of her life…Well, needless to say Sal and his team worked with her for 3 weeks and WOW!!! Really impressive!!!! It’s like magic (except it’s not, I know it’s a lot of expertise/knowledge, experience and years doing this)….Now I am the one who takes her on a walk and not the opposite, if I stop she sits and stays, she no longer lunges at people or dogs to play. She does what she’s told to do, period. I am still shocked on how obedient she is now. I was able to ride the train back to Toronto with Bella QUIETLY LYING DOWN ON THE FLOOR THE ENTIRE TRIP (photos for reference)! You guys haven’t seen her on the way there but trust me, it was THE OPPOSITE of this! Total chaos!Also, throughout her time at the canine, Sal and the team would send me updates on Bella and her progress with voice messages, photos and videos, which is very appreciated. And they’re available to answer questions you might have or things that might come up afterwards, which honestly, it’s what also made me choose them over other canines/trainers.Bella came back a whole different dog — positively — clean, healthy and with no issues.I get it, it’s your baby, you have concerns. I did too, BUT if you’re debating whether to go with them or another canine (either because it’s cheaper, closer or whatever reason), I’d seriously consider Friendly K9! They clearly know what they’re doing and they will set you up for success to have a well behaved dog and a great relationship/bond between you and your doggo! ☺️To Sal and the team, thank you guys so so much for enabling me to love my relationship with Bella and to have a dog I actually enjoy owning! This is priceless! And thank you for all the support and patience with the thousand questions I had and will still have hahaha.Thank you!!!

I left my dog, Rex, there for 4 weeks for the behaviour modification program. While my dog has had training in the past, I’ve failed to hold up the standard to which a working dog needs. However, my concern was with his genetics and potentially these behaviour issues being more than just simple structure. After about a week, the team was able to tell me their honest opinions about Rex and for those I am very thankful.It ended up being a Rex is fantastic. He is a great dog, with amazing genetics and a willingness to learn. The only issue is he’s a lot of dog for a first time dog owner, and only an experience handler would be able to reach Rex’s full potential.They made great progress with him, and gave me great advice which time and time again I found to be true, so I can say that in an unregulated industry, they did make me feel comfortable that Rex was in the right hands.Furthermore, they gave me great and honest advice about what his future would look like that has allowed me to set him up for the rest of his life.
