We filled in an on-line adoption application form and were approved, so we went to the Port Alberni SPCA on October 25, 2022 and met a possible new addition to our family .... a four month old grey kitten named Trudie. My name is Trudy so adopting her seemed more than appropriate! We had been checking the SPCA's website for a couple of years, but knew as soon as we saw Trudie's two sweet photos, that she was the one for us! It was love at first sight when we met her in person, so we adopted her.The nice employee helping us was named Natalie and she had been our kitten's Foster Mom for the past 2 months, so she was very informative, which we massively appreciated. We could tell she absolutely adored the kitten and had treated her extremely well in her home (Thanks Natalie!)This SPCA Branch is small, but the staff do a great job with what they have. On the day that we were there they had no heat, and were sharing a space heater to keep warm, but they were not complaining.A big thank you to all of the great staff who work at this SPCA (and at all SPCA's) for all that they do for the animals that are in their care. And Trudie" the kitten is now named "Ivy" .... so that I didn't have to change MY name!!"

Useless bunch of people. My dog attacked a stray dog so I brought it in and they refused to help it. When I asked if they were not a humane society they said yes but it's the weekend. Whatever that means. They told me to deal with it or put it back where I found it! Good advice ladies! Now my dog can rip it up again!

They found my little puppy wandering my street, kept her safe until I found her, didn't even put her in a cage. They let her hang with the manager for 2 hours, she wasn't even affected by little field trip unlike mommy!!

I am very grateful for Port Albernies SPCA, as on the 3rd week of every month ( Saturday from 1 till 3 ) food is donated and fashioned out so all who are registered can receive, cats and dogs, also this is where one would call for a lost animal, better yet vollenter as a human that truly cares about any animals well being.Should you want to donate they are always in need of cat litter, dog food, blankets, and a toy to help these animals feel a connection to the strange circumstances a confined animal loses hope get depressed or can contact kennel cough caused by continual barking, so please offer to walk those dogs as some are owner surrendered, some abandoned, others neglected but all a just wanting to find a responsible secure living home. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to any adoption, sadly there are many animals living in Port Alberni that do not have responsible owners. So it's your call volunteer or who knows you might fall in love and remember animals pick there humans, and for those that have been neglected Trust is a huge part of their recovery, I will tell you are screened prior to adoption, many animals from cats, dogs, horses, goats, rabbits birds, all need Love and a chance to be HAPPY❤
