I've been there twice, first time in the restaurant and everything was nice and standard. Last time at the end of June we were seated at the roof top, here are a few comments about it.Everything you order needs to be ordered at the bar and paid there so no service to the table. If it's sunny, not all the tables are under a shade. The tip was included directly to the bill, no option to change it unless you ask for it, which leaves a little bitter experience since it feels imposed. However, I saw a few tables being served sporadically.

Let me regale you with the tale of our grand celebration at Bar Hop Brew on Peter St in Toronto, where we gathered to honour my best friend’s birthday. The legendary A Buck Oyster extravaganza, precisely what my best friend desired (only available on Sundays). Before our grand feast, I took it upon myself to email the establishment and inquire about bringing a cake for the occasion. After all, their dessert options were as limited as a one-hit wonder. To my delight, they responded promptly, granting me permission to bring the cake. Hallelujah! With that settled, I embarked on a mission to acquire the sweet confection before venturing into the depths of downtown Toronto. Now, let’s set the stage for this culinary adventure. Bar Hop Brew isn’t your run-of-the-mill sit-down restaurant with servers at your beck and call. Oh no, my friend. Here, you become your own master of libations and sustenance. It’s a do-it-yourself extravaganza! We took up residence at the bar, ordering drinks and food. To make life easier, I entrusted my credit card to the bartender, ensuring a seamless experience as we indulged. As for our choices, we leaned heavily towards appetizers, embracing the tantalizing world of finger foods. And let me tell you, this place was anything but ordinary. I mean, who puts bone marrow on their menu? It’s a rare and daring move, my friends. Naturally, my bone marrow-loving heart skipped a beat as we delved into the wonders of their bone marrow poutine and bone marrow crostini. Joining the party were fries supreme, gnocchi poutine, and bulgogi wonton nachos. Oh, the anticipation! Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of flavours. The fries supreme and gnocchi poutine were solid options, satisfying but not exactly the stars of the show. In fact, we found ourselves with some leftovers, a testament to our unbridled enthusiasm for ordering everything in sight. But hold on to your taste buds, folks, because the bone marrow poutine and bone marrow crostini took center stage and delivered a performance of culinary genius. They shattered expectations and whisked us away to a realm of pure bliss. The poutine was a symphony of flavours, an orchestra of cheese, gravy, and bone marrow dancing upon a bed of fries. It was so good that we threw caution to the wind and ordered a second plate. Yes, my friends, we surrendered to the indulgence. Now, let’s talk about the bone marrow crostini, a work of art presented on a charcuterie board. It arrived accompanied by a majestic bone, pesto, crostini, and a sprinkling of salt. The ritual was simple: spread the pesto on the crostini, lavish it with bone marrow, and sprinkle a pinch of salt to complete the masterpiece. Every bite was a revelation, a burst of savoury goodness that transported us to gastronomic nirvana. Of course, we couldn’t resist the allure and ordered a second plate of this edible enchantment. While the menu at Bar Hop Brew boasts top-notch offerings and surprisingly wallet-friendly prices, it’s only fair to mention that the service left a bit to be desired. Picture yourself at a bustling deli counter, taking a number and waiting your turn. That’s the vibe my husband experienced. But fear not, dear patrons, for if you can overlook the lackluster service and seek out the bone marrow poutine or bone marrow crostini, this is the spot for you. Take a leap into culinary eccentricity and let your taste buds embark on an unforgettable journey.

Let me preface: I’ve never had such a bad experience at a restaurant. I also hate conflict and asking to speak with supervisors at a restaurant.Service was pretty horrible. Our waitress barely came by and when she did, it was almost like she had no idea what she was doing. We waited one hour for our food to come. It was 40 minutes before the waitress came by and said anything about our food coming. We then got our food 20 minutes later. Well… my friends did; it took another 5 minutes for mine to come out. When the food came, it was cold, oily and NOT worth waiting an hour for. Thankfully the manager comped us and though I felt bad, our waitress was extremely rude about this. No apologies until we actually said something. She was dismissive and seemed sour that WE were upset. After waiting an hour for food, running out of water, no forks, and no communication or apologies…she was upset at us.Absolutely gross behaviour from someone who should be providing customer service. It was bad enough we waited and the food was bad, her attitude just solidified us not coming back.Too bad this location is awful as the one on King was much better.

The rooftop here has a really nice vibe & reminds me of crock rock! So much fun & reasonable drinks. All white decor with lights. It’s order at the counter style & pay up front. This is for both food and drinks.Poutine 9/10Vibes 9/10

This place has multiple levels, and the top third-floor patio is only open when the weather is nice. The vibes here are great to come with a group of friends and grab some drinks. Not necessarily the place for a date unless you’re strictly getting drinks. The patio doesn’t really serve food, you can get small things like fries but that’s about it, and their drink menu mostly consists of beers. You also have to order and pay at the bar and someone will come to your table to clear up empty cups and whatnot. The second floor is more intimate and has a wider selection of drinks such as cocktails and food. They have some TVs inside which is nice if you want to catch a game as well.I’ve never been to their first floor and every time I’ve been it’s never been open, so not sure if that’s reserved for events and whatnot.

Beautiful rooftop patio. Great service. Great portion sizes for the price. Good selection of beers. You might have to wait a few minutes depending upon the day, time and number of seats required.

My brother and I loved this place. Super chill, not too packed. Extensive beer selection. Had a yuzu saison that was great. My brother and I split the bone marrow crostini appetizer and it was amazing. Would definitely go back!
