Summerford Hiking Trail Lookout

Waste of my time. No spectaculair views.

Beautiful walking/hiking trail in the town of Summerford. The trail around the pond is well groomed with wooden walkways in wetter areas. Moderate hilliness around the pond, with a few steep sections, but comfortable to walk with just sneakers. A lot of decorations and play areas dot the trail.Very big climb to the top of the lookout though, but worth the view. There is at least one place to stop on the way up, and benches at the top. Great view of the town and surrounding area.I did the walk with my girls (3 and 6) and they had no trouble. Carried the 3 year old up part of the lookout climb (which is all stairs), but they did most of it on their own.There is a new trail section to another cove. It was very new when I was there in the summer. Only got about half way out with the girls, as that was a much longer walk, although it wasn't difficult. Well groomed and cleared. Hoping to make it all the way out next summer!

Trail and stairs are well maintained. Easy hike around the pond with lots of objects placed around for the young kids to spot. They really enjoyed that part. The stairs to the lookout are worth the effort: the view is gorgeous. Thanks for the effort to create and maintain this.

Beautiful trail system. The round trip, which takes you around the pond and up a flight of 300 or so steps to the top of a tall hill, is about 4km.The walk to the top is hard work and the steps are easily washed out by snow melt and rain so be careful, but the view at the top is incredible. There's no other way to see just how many islands there are in this part of newfoundland without flying.There is also a trail which goes to Wiseman cove but I have no idea how long it is or how good it is.I would totally give this trail five stars if it had any information like a map for example at the trailhead.

Nice picnic stop on way to Twillingate!Easy 1k hiking trail and board walks around the pond and creeks, fun thing's for the kids. Challenge yourself with the 300+ stairs to the summit with panoramic views! Also, 2k side trail to the cove.

A lot of steps, that lead to a beautiful lookout. The views were great, and the objects amongst the trees, as well as the tire swings gave the trail a comforting feel. Would recommend.

Scenic, clean...well constructed

Great small quick hike-well maintained path. Fairy doors, wooden owls, butterfly plaques and tire swings along the way with multiple benches and a great 308 step climb to an overlook. Free parking at trail head.
